I'm proud to be an American!

American Woman...but I'm wearing my Great Grandma's necklace, to keep my birth country close to my heart!
The Court House

American Baby

Very proud of his moma

Happy American/Belgian Family!!! Now that I think of it, Reed is the only ones who is not Belgian in that photo, should I kick him out?Taking the oath. The speaker wasn't loud enough, so I'm not sure I said everything correctly, I kinda mumbled a bit, but my heart was in it!

The Judge

Alex took the pictures...hope you take Dramamine because they will make you feel nauseous, not straight at all!

They asked for 2 volunteers to share a few words...I couldn't resist being in the spotlight for long! I just figured I'd make it more personal for me that way...and people clapped for me, who wouldn't want over 200 people clapping for ya?

When I was 7 or 8, my family and I went to Florida on vacation, to Disneyworld and all the fun spots there. After I went home to Belgium, I told my mom and dad that" when I grow up, I want to live in America."..and here I am! ( My brother had told them he wanted to be a pilot: he flew F16 for 12 years and now flies the VIPs of Belgium...I'd say that trip was pretty much a life changing experience for our family...my poor parents, if they had known, they would have gone to Spain!)
Oath of Allegiance for Naturalized Citizens

"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God."
PS: on the way home, the radio played Leni Kravitz's song : American Woman! How cool was that!!!!
Now I need to plan an apple pie/hot dog party!!!! Invitations coming soon

Murielle,
I am so proud of you! And I'm so glad you got up to speak. When I read that, I about cried. Really. You are the PERFECT person to put feelings to words on such a day. You are an amazing woman.

So coo! I guess I'm not the only one who teared up a bit reading this and seeing your pics. Congrats again, and thanks again for sharing these great experiences. Geeze, if I had know you were going to speak, I might have hauled my butt (and my kids) downtown. What did you say? (is it that stuff about the Florida/Spain trip)?

Erin, I did say that stuff about my trip to Florida (but not about my brother) and that I was grateful for this great nation and that I can raise my family where I know they are safe...something like that...at least, I didn't close with "in the name of Jesus Christ Amen". It was just a couple of minutes, not worth a trip downtown ;) I didn't know in advance, it was a spurr of the moment thing, they asked for two volunteers and I raised my hand ;)

Congratulations! I am so in for Hot Dogs and Apple Pie and I can't think of a better AMERICAN WOMAN with which to party with! I can't believe you remember saying that! I can't remember what I wished for on my last birthday!

So did you include the joke about your parents wishing they had taken you to Spain instead? That was my favorite- Muche humor! I LOVE that you wore your Grandma's necklace! Very nice! You look great BTW!

So great! You look so happy! Thanks for sharing your big day with all the rest of us!

I didn't say anything about "Spain", just went on about the greatness of America, that's what they probably were looking for; there was a judge behind me, I didn't want him to say I was already not patriotic!
